Barking is a totally normal behaviour for dogs. If a dog is barking excessively, although problematic for the owner, it is not really in itself a behaviour problem but rather a symptom of another underlying cause. Before you can successfully reduce your dog's barking it is important to understand why he is barking. Only then will you be able to come up with a solution to resolve it. Although barking can be annoying it is unreasonable to expect your dog to never bark, just as it would be unreasonable to expect your children never to talk, shout or laugh. The Company of Animals have a number of solutions to help with unwanted barking; please read through our Stop Barking training guide for help on why your dog may be barking and what products may be best suited for you.
